Trayon White Wins Back Ward 8

Ward 8 voters returned DC Councilmember Trayon White to his position in a special election yesterday. White was expelled from the council in February after he was arrested on federal bribery charges, for which he pleaded not guilty. Many in Ward 8 believed he was wrongly accused and deserves another chance. If White is found guilty at his trial next year he would be unable to serve the rest of his term. [Washington Post 🔒]

DC Lawmakers Approve Ranked-Choice Voting

The D.C. Council voted to approve ranked-choice voting, and included funding for it to start as early as 2026. D.C. voters approved the initiative last November, but until this week it was uncertain if it would actually happen. [City Cast DC 🎧]
