White House Lists 'Objectionable’ Smithsonian Exhibits

The White House released a list of Smithsonian exhibits it objects to, saying they were committed to “rooting out woke and divisive ideology.” The list includes a pride flag at the Museum of American History, an exhibit on Latinos with disabilities, a painting of refugees crossing the Texas border, and others. National Guard Strapping Up

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says the nearly 2,000 National Guard troops in D.C. will now be armed. The Pentagon had previously declared they would be unarmed and there has been no official explanation for the further militarization. [HuffPost]

US May Deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia, Again

Prince George County resident Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador in March, was reunited with his family late Friday after he was released from federal custody. But, hours later, the federal government threatened to deport him to Uganda. The reason is still unlcear but is his lawyers say the threat was an attempt to coerce him into a guilty plea. [NYT 🔒]

Howard President Steps Down

The President of Howard University, Ben Vinson III, is stepping down at the end of the month. He will be replaced in the interim by the university's former president Wayne A. I. Frederick. [NBC4]
