Trump Bans Cashless Bail In DC
Trump signed an executive order yesterday ending cashless bail for arrested suspects, threatening to withhold federal funding if D.C. doesn’t comply. It also requests officers bring people arrested in D.C. into federal custody rather than local custody. [Axios]
Two DMV Food Halls Close
The Heights, a food hall in Chevy Chase that opened during the 2023 food hall craze, closed permanently over the weekend. The Block food hall in Annandale is also closing its doors at the end of the month. [WTOP]
Will DC’s Unhoused Survive Trump?

Judge Pauses Abrego Deportation
Yesterday, a federal judge temporarily stopped Prince George’s County resident Kilmar Abrego García from being deported to Uganda until he gets a hearing. Abrego was wrongfully deported to El Salvador in March and had only just been released from custody when the new removal order came. [Washington Post 🔒]
