New Dorm-Style Shelter For DC’s Unhoused
D.C. is opening a new dorm-style homeless shelter next month near Capitol Hill that will hold 190 residents. The shelter will provide food, mental health services, and other resources to help people transition to more permanent housing. [WTOP]
Union Station Expansion Shelved, Says Duffy
The Trump administration plans to take over the management of Union Station, just a year after Amtrak took over operations. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy also said they are shelving the $10 billion planned expansion. [City Cast DC 🎧]
Car Racing In the District?!
The open-wheel car racing series IndyCar is considering holding a street race in D.C. next year for America’s 250th anniversary. President Trump also recently announced the White House would host a UFC event for the anniversary as well. [Washington Business Journal 🔒]
Chevy Chase Cold Case Killer Caught
Eugene Gligor was sentenced to 22 years in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend's mom in Chevy Chase. The case took police over 20 years to solve and, despite pleading guilty, Gligor claims he doesn’t remember the incident. [Washington Post 🔒]
