Congress Won’t Extend DC Police Takeover
House leaders reportedly won’t vote to continue President Trump’s takeover of the D.C. police, meaning the 30-day emergency order will expire Sept. 10. Norton Says ‘Of Course’ She’s Running Again
D.C.’s Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, 88, told reporters she plans to run for reelection in 2026. She says her seniority is important and she won’t step aside, despite growing concerns about her fitness for the position. [Axios]

Teens Arrested For Death of Congressional Intern
Two 17-year-olds have been arrested for the fatal shooting of a congressional intern in June. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced that they will be charged as adults at D.C. Superior Court, saying that D.C.’s system “allows juveniles to be coddled.” A third suspect is still at large. [Washington Post 🔒]
