👮 MPD pulls back ICE collaboration
September 12, 2025 · 💌 Kaela
Hey DC! Our team will be tabling at the Art All Night in Mt. Pleasant tonight from 5 - 10 p.m. We’ll have swag, temp tats, and mics to record your D.C. musings and hot takes. Hope to see you there!

What's CITY Talking About?
National Guard Turned Away In Ward 8
Ward 8 legislators unanimously voted to refuse D.C. National Guard help with neighborhood clean-up projects. They say the militarized presence is not needed and they don’t want the National Guard patrolling the community “under the guise of beautification.” [ABC7]
911 Outage, Call Here Instead
Calls to 911 in D.C. are not connecting consistently. Officials urge those who cannot get through to call 202-265-9100, which connects you directly with a call taker. [ABC7]
Police To Cease Cooperation With ICE
Mayor Bowser said the police department's cooperation with immigration officials will end with the emergency, which ceased Wednesday. ICE will still operate in D.C., but police won’t give them information. But, she said National Guard troops will stay in D.C. through late November. [WUSA9]
Norton Quiet In Talks Over DC Interference
D.C. delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (88) was largely silent at Wednesday’s congressional oversight meeting to discuss new federal controls over D.C. Where Norton would have once been a fighting voice for the District, she only read haltingly from a script, leaving the debate to take place without her. [City Cast DC 🔒]
