City Cast DC with Michael Schaffer
🗳️ Eleanor Holmes Norton has a challenger
September 19, 2025 · 💌 Kaela
Morning, neighbor! Sometimes I think I’m not making full use of my free will. This friend group biked to all 10 Andy’s Pizza locations in one day. Along the 43 miles, the poster housed seven slices of pizza and three beers. Absolutely inspiring stuff.

What's CITY Talking About?
Robert White Goes For Norton’s Seat
D.C. councilmember at-large Robert White announced he’s running for Eleanor Holmes Norton’s seat as D.C.’s congressional delegate in next year's Democratic primary. Norton has held the position for 18 consecutive terms, but at 88, many are calling on her to step aside. [City Cast DC 🎧]
New Tenant Law Means Easier Evictions
D.C. Council passed a bill tightening eviction laws on Wednesday, hoping to attract more affordable housing. The new law will speed up the eviction process and crack down on unpaid rent which makes it hard for affordable housing developers to stay afloat. [Washington Post 🔒]
DC Officials Request Funds At House Hearing
Mayor Bowser and other D.C. officials got grilled on Capitol Hill yesterday in a hearing focused on D.C. crime. Bowser criticized the city’s lack of autonomy while also asking the House Oversight Committee for federal funds to hire more police and home the unhoused. [Washington Post 🔒]
Fairfax To Background Check School Employees
Fairfax public schools will start using an FBI background check program to screen employees, becoming the first in the state to do so. The program, “Rap Back,” provides continuous fingerprint monitoring. [NoVA]
