🎵 Meet DC’s next legendary music venue
September 29, 2025 · 💌 Kaela
Hey D.C.!
We’re almost done with our membership campaign, and to meet our goals, we need at least 10 of YOU 🫵 (yes you!) to join today. I’ve been going on and on about the benefits, but our new City Cast Neighbor Leslie H. puts it much more eloquently.
"I love the dedication to providing local news, entertainment, and information. It’s so valuable for us as citizens and residents to stay informed. It’s the only way to take care of ourselves and our communities 🥳”
Guys, I swear she’s not a paid actor! Hand on heart.

What's CITY Talking About?
MPD Gets Pay Raise Amid Recruitment Efforts
The D.C. Council just approved a 13% pay raise for MPD officers, making the starting salary $75k a year (plus a signing bonus). The police department is trying to increase its numbers to 4,000 officers from 3,179. [ABC7]
DC Seeks Designer For New Public Square
D.C. wants to build a public square around the National Portrait Gallery near Capital One Arena. The hope is to revitalize Chinatown and coincide with the Capital One Arena renovation. [Washington Business Journal 🔒]
Dupont Deckover Begins
The Dupont deckover project has finally begun. The project will turn a busy section of Connecticut Avenue NW into a public plaza. But the project is expected to take three years and cause traffic congestion. [Axios/City Cast DC 🎧]
DC’s Only Ice Rink Needs Serious Help
The historic Fort Dupont Ice Arena is home to one of the oldest black hockey clubs in the U.S. But, it’s been in shambles for years, repairs keep getting delayed and a $40M rebuild is on thin ice (sorry) because it lacks proper dehumidification. [City Cast DC 🎧]
