Trump Throws SNAP Benefits Into Question
President Trump posted on socials that SNAP benefits will not be paid until after the shutdown, going against two federal court orders requiring the administration to pay them at least in part. The statement also refutes the White House’s statement earlier this week that they would comply with the court order.

D.C.’s treescape has undergone radical changes lately. The city is using climate change data to plant more resilient trees. You’ll see more trees that you’d find in Southern and Midwestern states, like Magnolias, and fewer trees you’d find in the Northeast, like the Sugar Maple. [City Cast DC 🎧]
Government Shutdown Runner Can't Keep Up
In case you were wondering, the man running one mile for every day the government is shut down (understandably) didn’t make it past day 28. The shutdown, now the longest in U.S. history, is on its 37th day. He ran more than 450 miles total in the challenge and documented each day on his Instagram. [WTOP/Instagram]
