Good morning! Metro's Rewind dropped yesterday and you best believe I spent the whole morning peeping friends’ stats on their Instagram stories. But Metro also released overall stats for D.C.’s ridership in 2025.

Some highlights:

  • Total number of trips (bus and train): 256,846,000
  • Most popular bus route: The 70 (Georgia Ave/7th St). Now the D40.
  • Top station: Union Station
  • Carbon saved: 372,3992,000kg

Kennedy Center Now Trump-Kennedy Center

The Kennedy Center will be renamed the Trump-Kennedy Center. The board of the performing arts center voted to change the name yesterday, but will likely see pushback because changing the name requires an act of Congress. [Axios]

New Chesapeake Bay Bridge Will Be Twice the Size

Maryland approved a plan to replace the Chesapeake Bay Bridge yesterday. It will include twice as many lanes and wide shoulders, but is expected to be twice the previously estimated cost. [Washington Post 🔒]

America 250 Plans Revealed

The Trump administration dropped their plans for America’s 250th anniversary next summer. They include a state fair, an athletic competition calling for “one young man and one young woman from each state and territory,” a UFC fight, and “the largest fireworks display in the world.” [NBC4]

Congress Heights ANC Misuses Public Funds

D.C. advisory neighborhood commissioner Salim Adofo was found to have misused government funds for political purposes. According to the D.C. Auditor, he used more than $2,000 in public funds on things like campaign headshots and event photography. [Washington Post 🔒]

Government Liable In Part For Potomac Plane Crash

The U.S. government admitted liability in January’s deadly plane collision above the Potomac, saying it could have been avoided if the Army helicopter had been able to see and avoid the plane. [New York Times 🔒]
