WaPo Layoffs Lead To Rally, Outrage
Demonstrators gathered outside The Washington Post headquarters on K Street NW yesterday to show their opposition to the staff cuts that wiped out one third of their newsroom Wednesday. The cuts have been met with outrage and confusion as The Post’s leadership still refuses to acknowledge or comment on the layoffs. [@Phil_Lewis_]
Spanberger Bans Local Police Partnerships With ICE
Gov. Abigail Spanberger ordered an end to partnerships with federal immigration enforcement in Virginia, saying it degrades trust in law enforcement. Last month, she also rescinded an order that let state officials conduct federal immigration enforcement. [Washington Post 🔒]
Trump Strips Protections from 50k More Federal Workers
On Thursday, the Trump administration finalized a new policy that would strip job protections for up to 50,000 federal workers, making it easier for them to be fired. [NYT]

Anti-Violence Group Uses Grant Money For Pool Party
The D.C. violence prevention group Life Deeds was revealed to have used more than $400,000 in city-funded grant money for employees’ personal benefit. They used the money for trips, shopping, boozy pool parties, and to hire from businesses linked to their own employees. [City Cast DC 🎧]
