WaPo Names New Acting CEO
On Saturday, just days after The Washington Post laid off a third of its staff, CEO Will Lewis announced he was stepping down. He will be replaced by acting publisher and CEO Jeff D'Onofrio. Lewis, who had a controversial tenure to say the least, thanked Jeff Bezos on the way out, calling him the best owner The Post could have. [Axios]
Trayon White Asks To Push Bribery Case, Again
Ward 8 Councilmember Trayon White wants to postpone his federal bribery trial, again. It was previously delayed until March due to him switching attorneys. Now, he’s asking for a June 8 start date, with his attorney (his third on the case) saying he doesn’t have sufficient time to prepare. [Washington City Paper]
Local Schools Are Reinstating Their Racist Names
Some Virginia schools are changing their names back to confederate namesakes. The result is a legal fight that could affect schools all over the DMV, even those that are absolutely not trying to restore those kinds of names. [City Cast DC 🎧]
Potomac Sewage Bacteria Alive and Well
E. coli in the Potomac River from the raw sewage spill is being kept alive way longer than normal by the ice and cold temperatures. Most of the raw sewage is no longer spilling into the river, but DC Water says it will take four to six weeks to fully repair. [NBC4/WTOP]
‘Walk For Peace’ Nears Finish Line
A group of Buddhist monks (and one dog) on a 2,300-mile “Walk For Peace” are arriving in Arlington today, the last stop before arriving in D.C. tomorrow. The monks started at a Vietnamese Buddhist temple in Texas on Oct. 26, 2025. [Washingtonian]
