Is DC going to stop Waymo?
February 11, 2026 · 💌 Kaela
D.C. is that you? I almost didn’t recognize you after 24-hours above freezing. Even the ducklings have returned to MLK Library, a sure sign that spring is on the way and snowcrete’s days are numbered.

What's CITY Talking About
Violence Interrupters Arrested for Homicide
Two men have been arrested for the homicide of 31-year-old Blake Bozeman. Both were working as D.C. violence interrupters at the time. The incident has called into question the efficacy of the already controversy-ridden violence intervention program as a whole. [Washington Post 🔒]
WaPo Layoffs Bigger Than Initially Thought
A new accounting by the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild shows that the Washington Post layoffs may be worse than initially thought — closer to 45% of its staff. The original number of 300 layoffs did not account for dozens of staffers in its foreign bureaus, or non-union editors and managers. [Washingtonian]
Walk For Peace Reaches DC
A group of Buddhist monks reached D.C. yesterday, the final destination on their 2,300-mile pilgrimage for peace from a Buddhist temple in Texas. They will stay in D.C. two days with an appearance at the Lincoln Memorial today so expect a few road closures! [NBC4]
Why Waymo Can’t Win Over DC
Waymo, the California-based robotaxi service, is supposed to launch in D.C. this year, but despite spending thousands on outside lobbying firms, the self-driving cars are still stuck in regulatory limbo. Andy Hawkins, who has been covering Waymo for The Verge, tells us when, and if, we can expect them in D.C. [City Cast DC 🎧]
High School Shooter Arrested, Charged
A 16-year-old student was charged with attempted second-degree murder after shooting and injuring another teen at Wootton High School in Rockville. The school was on lockdown after the shooting Monday, but has since reopened. [NBC4]
