DC reacts to strikes on Iran

March 2, 2026 · 💌 Kaela

Hey D.C.! The sun is finally (finally) setting after 6 p.m. This not only means that I am more likely to leave my house, it also means D.C. is stacked with things to do. Here’s what we’ll be getting up to this month in an attempt to reverse the effects of our voluntary hibernation.

What's CITY Talking About

DC Reacts to Strikes On Iran

Hundreds gathered outside the White House and other D.C. sites Saturday afternoon to protest the strikes on Iran. Meanwhile in Georgetown, other demonstrators waved American and Iranian flags to celebrate the strikes, chanting "we are the revolution." Metro Transit Police announced there will be an increased police presence at stations and D.C. police are monitoring threats. [Washington Post 🔒/NBC/Axios]

Student Walk Out To Protest ICE

Hundreds of students staged a walk out from school on Friday to protest ICE. They marched to the Lincoln Memorial under the banner “The Fight Isn’t Over Yet,” joining a growing number of student-led protests nationwide after ICE killed two people in Minneapolis last month. [Washington Post 🔒]

DC Courts Let Nonlawyers Provide Legal Assistance

A new order issued by D.C. Courts allows nonlawyers with training, called Community Justice Workers, to offer legal assistance on civil matters in D.C. Proponents hope the program can help District residents who would otherwise have to represent themselves in court. [WTOP]

Waymo Steps Up Lobbying Efforts

California-based robotaxi company Waymo is dropping tens of thousands of dollars on monthly retainers for local lobbying firms to overcome red tape and finally launch in D.C. The company has been trying to roll out their vehicles for over a year in the District, which requires a human driver behind the wheel. [Axios]
