🚲 15th Street bike lane removal on pause
March 24, 2026 · 💌 Kaela
Hey D.C.! It may be a Tuesday, but it is National Cocktail Day, and that seems as good a reason as any to patronize your local drinking establishment. We chatted with Emily Venezky of Eater about D.C.’s best cocktails right now if you need some suggestions 🍸

What's CITY Talking About
15th Street Bike Lane Removal On Pause
A last-minute lawsuit by D.C. bike activists has put the scheduled removal of part of the 15th street NW bike lane on pause. The group claims the path has decreased both biking and other roadway accidents and that its removal by the federal government has had no public process. [NBC4]
Quadruple Amputee Cornhole Player Accused of Murder
Dayton Webber, a professional cornhole player who’s also a quadruple amputee, has been charged with first degree murder in La Plata, Maryland. Police say he shot and killed the man during an argument in his car. [NBC4]
Columbus Statue Erected Near White House grounds
A statue of Christopher Columbus was installed over the weekend outside of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next to the White House. The statue is a replica of one destroyed in Baltimore during the 2020 racial justice protests and is one of several confederate statues Trump plans to restore in the DMV area. [CNN]
BTS Bashed For Whitewashing Howard
Black K-pop fans and Howard University students are calling out BTS’s recent album trailer as purposefully whitewashing the University. The promo features Howard's yard — which has historic significance in K-pop — with mostly white students gathered. Critics point out this was not historically accurate. [Black Enterprise/The Dig]
2050 Land Use Map Sparks Outrage
D.C.’s Office of Planning released a draft of its “Future Land Use Map for DC 2050” and it's taking some major heat, including by mayoral candidate Kenyan McDuffie who says it doesn’t allow for the dense development that D.C. needs. Local Redditors echoed his frustration, calling the plan “unambitious” and “pathetic.” [City Cast DC 🎧/X/Reddit]
