It’s about to get easier to fire federal workers
April 2, 2026 · 💌 Kaela
Hey D.C.! The Washington Nationals play their first home game of the season tomorrow, but the biggest baseball news this week (in my unprofessional opinion) is that the park is lowering the price of beer 🍻 You can now grab a brewski for $9 rather than $15+.

What's CITY Talking About
It's Getting Even Easier To Fire Federal Workers
The Trump Administration is reclassifying tens of thousands of career staff into a new category that lacks traditional federal worker protections and makes them easier to dismiss. Drew Friedman from Federal News Network has been covering the story and is on the pod to explain. [City Cast DC 🎧]
DC Lawmaker Push Vote On Youth Curfew
D.C. Council postponed a vote to extend a youth curfew policy that lets police make special “curfew zones” where kids can’t gather. The policy, which is heavily supported by Mayor Bowser, is set to expire on April 15 but lawmakers remain divided and pushed the vote to later in the month. [WUSA9]
DC’s Under the Radar MAGA Hang
NOTUS scouted out D.C.’s latest young professional MAGA hangout stop, the wine bar Scarlet Oak in — you guessed it — Navy Yard. Wine Wednesdays draw in hordes of two-phone-clutching republican staffers wanting to see and be seen. It’s like Butterworth’s but for the younger generation. [NOTUS]
Data Centers Spark New Environmental Concerns
New research depicts how the boom of data centers — which use water to cool their IT systems — could contribute to the Potomac drinking water shortage. Additionally, the centers were found to create heat islands, with some studies showing temperature increases in areas over six miles away. [NoVA Magazine]
