The Best Plant Stores In DC
During the deep, dark depths of winter, I cope by filling my apartment with plants. Luckily, D.C. has a lot of great places to find plants and people who care about them.

Ginkgo Gardens (Navy Yard)
This lush greenhouse has both indoor and outdoor plants, and a great selection and gardening supplies. Their staff is also very knowledgeable — if you have plant care questions, this is the place to ask.
Ace Hardware (Columbia Road NW location)
I know, I know. Ace is a hardware store chain, not a plant store. But this particular Ace has a great selection of plants and pots for cheap. I got a great deal on this beautiful cactus there.

Olde City Garden (Brentwood)
This sprawling location is a good spot for your serious plant person. If you’re looking for something rare or unusual, it’s your best bet. They also have a discount section of plants for sale that need a little TLC.
PLNTR (Dupont Circle)
PLNTR has two of my favorite things — plants and coffee. The space is warm and inviting and they even sell Venus Fly Traps!
Honorable Mention: Facebook
If you’re on hyper-local Facebook groups like local buy nothing groups or DC Queer Exchange, people often sell plants for cheap (or even free!) or offer cuttings to propagate your own.
